So, after 7 years following the scene, I've planned to show you something.

'05 Mercedes-Benz ML320 CDI (W164)

Why exactly Mercedes ML? I've never been a fan of W164, but Synetic models were the easiest way to finalize the project. This thing started incidentally, I had an old E-Class W211 pack, which had this so popular and frugal OM642 engine. Then there were koce's ML63, which was fantastic. I had an idea why not to use Synetics ML500 and use the dashboard from koce. W211 was the inspiration to create this model.

So what have I done so far?
  • Converted model
  • Implanted FM3 dashboard
  • Made new stock dials (hand made)
  • Found a sound from MBWR
  • Created Editcar
  • Aligned the speedo and tacho to work properly (pain in the a***)
  • New colors and update materials

What is still necessary?
  • Find new steering wheel for stock ML (GL/R-Class)
  • New stock rims
  • Maybe model decals (if someone can help me with that)
  • Finish colors and handling
About the permissions, as far as I can tell, are ok. ML body is synetic, koces FM3 dashboard are free to use, according to the readme. Rims shown here are not included, they're for showcase purposes only

This looks good so far!
The cockpit has a higher detail level than car itself?

If you want to make a racing model, a driver with helmet is ok, for civilian version I'd make a normal head.
Liveries: Have you got a template?

Tacho/Speedo adjustment is the biggest pain in the a... for sure!!!

Yep, I am afraid the interior is a lot more detailed than the body, because it is by Synetic. I couldnt find appropriate model, nor have the skills to convert one. Even if I could, I would be doing some FM4 models :p

Driver will be changed, no worries Smile About the liveries, I actually don't think I have planned them, but there might be one, once I figure it out. For now, I have to do steering wheel, which will be based on MBWR 2D model - a lot of texturing to do Smile Can someone supply with good wheels for ML?

Yea, I know 420CDI is a lot better, maybe I'll consider doing that, because basically I just need to do faster editcar and new sound Smile

I've got a better idea. Do both versions.
The ML looks really nice. The dashboard is well. You have done the speedo etc. very well. Maybe you can put a license plate at the front of the car.

Give me an PM how to do it, I'll put the licence plate where you want Big Grin Still fighting with 'em steering wheel, but soon, maybe tomorrow I'll show progress with colors and other stuff Wink

Thanks for comments @ all Smile

A little update. Here is the temporary steering wheel, I have been doing for a while. Uses that astonishing technology by MBTR. :p This car mainly seem to happen using all from Synetics drawers (MBTR,MBWR,WR2) Big Grin Still waiting for some better solution, like pischtis template for 2D wheel with 3D hands.
Now the car handles very nice, I am proud of what I have done and 420CDI is on its way later on.
Here are some OEM colors, more on the way from GL brochure I happen to have. Rims are very hard to find and if nothing changes there, it will stick with something like this on the screens.

Tin/plastic look way better than I thought,
you said it's a standard WR2, those are usually not so high quality.

Plate Texture is not really good, the colon (Doppelpunkt) IRL is no colon,
but two badges, one from TÜV (tech check), one from state (registration).
Just a Detail, but for me it's an important point.

Front Plate (No TÜV).

Cool Site for this stuff:

The steering wheel itself looks very good, high detailed.

But the difference between dash texture (smooth, dark, brownish) and
steeringwheel texture (rough, shiny, dark grey) is a bit too large.
The steering wheel looks like an "alien" inside the car.

You could try to apply swheel tex to dash, or the other way round,
both would be a hard job, though.

Plates are noplate.ptx, standart WR2 ones! I guess its nothing to do here, since I'd rather leave them as they are and if someone really likes to change them, its their way Wink Thanks for state reg label Big Grin

The steering wheel is the biggest source of problems and I see the differences, must do something. Swheel and wheels are on question. Thanks for replies Smile

Sure not standard WR2, they would show driver's nickname, except you made your nick S:ML7777?
Maybe you have an addon installed? There are some plate mods around.

Sure! As I told you before, for me it's important.
Size of the plate is OK, so...

Good luck with the SWheel's tex!
